Successful Dog Walking Tips And Tricks

Friday 5th July 2019

Heading out for walkies is one of, if not the best part of your dog's day, so you want to make sure it's as 'pawsome' as possible.

It's really important to make sure your dog gets enough exercise each day, as not only will this help to keep them fit and healthy, but it will also help to strengthen the bond you have.

There are lots of things you can do during your dog walks to keep them varied and interesting for both you and your pooch and the following tips have been gathered to give you inspiration for just that.

Choose Different Routes

Whilst you may have one specific route that's close to home and suitable for your daily routine, it's always beneficial to switch up your walks a little and choose different routes.

Even if it's just on the weekends, choosing a completely new place to walk your pup will enable them to explore new places, experience new smells and it will also give you something new to enjoy at the same time.

Perhaps there's a beautiful dog-friendly National Trust spot just a short car journey away, or maybe you noticed an exciting looking trail that you want to explore.

Wherever you choose to go, by making this little change you'll find the walks become much more enjoyable for you and your pooch.

Get Some Training In

To many people, training their dogs seems like a challenge, but it doesn't have to be.

Head over to an online retailer such as Petwell, stock up on some tasty treats and head out to the local field. For this walk, you’re going to put some training into action.

Dog training can be a fun activity for you and your dog, as not only are you treating them for doing as you say, but you'll also feel a sense of pride and achievement when they begin to pick up certain commands and tricks!

Whether you're dogs a puppy or a few years old, you can still get some essential training in and teach them the basic commands that they should know.

Pack the Essentials

If you're heading out on your daily dog walk, you need to make sure you have the essentials to hand.

There’s nothing worse than finding out you forgot the dog treats, or that the ball launcher is still sat in the hallway. Before you leave the house, do a check to make sure you have the essentials.

From training supplies to treats and tennis balls, there are lots of things that you can take with you on your walk to make it fun and interesting.
