Celebrities v Legends - The Rematch
Wednesday 22nd February 2012 It was hailed by the organisers as a huge success, and for those of us who attended a great family day out. In fact, if you have a teenage daughter you'd be well advised to stick this date on the calendar right now.
The 6th Annual Charity match, organised by Jamie and Phil Walker, also raised a staggering £19,000 for three charities, with a little (but not inconsiderable) help from a few soapstars.
Phil Walker was on record as saying that it was the best event... READ MORE...

"Full Credit To The Whole Team" Spireites Boss John Sheridan
Sunday 19th February 2012 It was a buoyant John Sheridan who faced the media after the Sheffield Wednesday game and, in an honest interview, told us that he felt there had been much progression in the team over the last few games and how delighted he was to have bagged the 3 points.
A victory for resilience and determination today? "Yes. Spireites Tame The Owls
Saturday 18th February 2012 It was a sell out crowd at the b2net, with only empty blue seats visible in the East stand's segregation area.
The 10,000 crowd had all come to see what Spireite gaffer John Sheridan had described as likely to b a spectacle, and the atmosphere was certainly electric as the teams came out.

Friday 17th February 2012 We spoke to Chesterfield Gaffer John Sheridan ahead of training this morning (Friday) and we began by asking him about Tuesday's game at Bury, which saw The Shakers snatch a point just before the final whistle.
Bury - it really was a game of two halves wasn't it? "I thought we played really well for an hour, 70 minutes, the game was definitely there for us to win. We could have been 2 or 3 up at half time so, we were really disappointed not to win the game in the end and for them to score so late was a downer but, we need to pick ourselves up and get ready for the game tomorrow." He was asked first of all for his thoughts after the defeat... "Obviously it was very disappointing. I thought it was an even game, both teams had opportunities the first half, we had spells where we played well, they had spells where they played well. I thought their keeper made a great save after Jack's (Lester) shot and Tommy (Lee) made a great save from their lad at the other end." READ MORE...

Tuesday 3rd January 2012
Assistant Manager Tommy Wright talked to the media after the game and gave us his thoughts.
Asked first of all if he was disappointed with the performance, he said, "I think we could play better, there's no doubt about that, but we have to give the players credit. I think they gave it their all and I thought Oldham looked quite dangerous, stretched and I think either team could have won it. They're a good side. The position we're in, we need to win points, but a point is better than nothing and the players showed a lot of endeavour but, we need more quality to shoot up the table." READ MORE...

Monday 4th April 2011 "It's the strongest squad since I've been here." - that's Jack Lester, Chesterfield Striker extraordinaire commenting as the Spireite nears the end of what looks certain to be a promotion winning season and of course, the first one at the multi-million pound B2net stadium.
With 500 league appearances, 150 of them for Chesterfield alone, Jack is without doubt, one of Chesterfield's most revered players. This weekend's game against Port Vale saw official recognition of his achievements with a pre-game presentation by club Chairman Barrie Hubbard. The Chesterfield Post caught up with Jack and asked about his career, the season and what comes next. READ MORE...

In came Jack Lester for his 150th Chesterfield appearance, he replaced Keiran Djilali, and Dwayne Mattis started his first match since February, the former Walsall player replacing the injured Scott Griffiths who had a tight hamstring.
Chesterfield started extremely brightly with Dean Holden heading wide from a good position. Craig Davies hit the post twice within two minutes, both from crosses from the wings. READ MORE...
Chesterfield v Port Vale. Match Preview
Friday 1st April 2011 Marc Richards is a man that would walk into any League Two side, the Vale talisman who bagged his 100th goal during the week also likes to score against Chesterfield. The former Barnsley striker grabbed a hat-trick last season at Saltergate in Vales 5-0 demolition of the Spireites.
Richards who seems to epitomise the Vale supporters and their needs, is club captain and spokesman for the Stoke based club, almost an Alan Shearer of League 2 if you will. Richards on tomorrows match stated "It's a big game on Saturday, let's hope plenty of our supporters come. We do better against the top teams, teams like Chesterfield are more open and more entertaining". READ MORE...
APRIL FOOL:
Lester To Become Permanent Fixture At The B2Net
Friday 1st April 2011 VERY SORRY! We're sure a lot of you spotted it, but now it's midday and although all our Spireites will agree he deserves it - We're afraid the Jack Lester version of the 'Angel Of The North' was just an April Fool's joke. Unless any CFC sponsors and the council Planning Dept are reading that is.....
Our April Fool Story: Often described as a 'legend' by Chesterfield fans, and celebrating his 500th League appearance this week Jack Lester is a regular breaker of records.

Who's YOUR Chesterfield FC 'Player Of The Year'?
Thursday 31st March 2011 As we look back at the inaugural season at the B2 Net, there's no doubt that it's been the best season for a long while for the Spireites. There have been some great team performances, but which player has caught your eye?
The goalkeeping of Tommy Lee? The goalscoring of strikers Craig Davies, Jack Lester or Dean Smalley? The silky skills of our midfielders? Or the robust defending of the players at the back?

Spireites Stung By Late Barnet Strike. Match Review
Tuesday 29th March 2011 Barnet 2 - 2 Chesterfield. Chesterfield were stung in the end by a late goal from Bees substitute Sam Deering who had also scored earlier to give Barnet a point they probably deserved.
The Spireites made one change from the side that hammered Rotherham with Jack Lester making way for Keiran Djilali. Dean Morgan partnered Craig Davies upfront. Martin Allen had been installed as Barnet manager for the second time in his managerial career in the week.
The game set off at a rapid pace with both sides looking to get play onto the wings, though when Smalley moved upfront to partner Davies Chesterfield began to settle. READ MORE...

Spireites Wary Of A Bee-Sting. Barnet v Chesterfield Preview
Saturday 26th March 2011 Whilst eyes will mainly be on the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Chesterfield continue their League Two Title bandwagon to struggling Barnet.
The North London club have seen plenty of doom this season and their current league position doesn't bring any ray of sunshine either. Martin Allen has returned to Underhill for his second spell as manager, his first was back in 2002. Allen has appointed Giuliano Grazioli as assistant manager to see out the remaining eight matches.
The new management team will have a lot of work to be done to save the Football League status the Bees currently hold. READ MORE...

Chesterfield v Rotherham Match Preview
Thursday 17th March 2011 B2net Stadium, 7:45pm Kick Off.
There are usually no draws between these two sides, the last one was February 1997 when the Millers and the Spireites fought out a 1-1 draw at Saltergate.
The crowd was over 5000, the scheduled crowd for tomorrow night will be over the 10,000 mark thanks to the first sold out Chesterfield match since the FA Cup run in 1997. The lure of SKY SPORTS and the fact that Rotherham, as the league table stands, are placed in fourth and it's geographically the most local match the Spireites will play this season, will boost the attendance which has broken records as a regular occurrence this season. Tuesday 15th March 2011 Chesterfield made three changes to the side which defeated Northampton in midweek. Mark Allott, Scott Griffiths and Jack Lester were left out the starting eleven, Dean Morgan, Ian Morris and Keiran Djilali brought back in.
Crewe started strongly with efforts from Clayton Donaldson and Byron Moore. The Chesterfield defence had to be at its smartest to clear a header from Patrick Ada. Spireites Hoping To Derail The Railwaymen - Match Preview
Friday 11th March 2011 Crewe Alexandra v Chesterfield, Venue: Gresty Road, Kick off: 3.00pm
Chesterfield face a Crewe side full of goals, the Railwaymen have only scored five less than the Spireites. Problem for Crewe is they are inconsistent, they sit in middle place due to this predicament. When they appeared at the B2net earlier on in the season, the remarkable 5-5 draw that happened that day will be talking about in even B2net folklore. Just a quick reminder that Crewe found themselves 3-0,4-1 and 5-2 goals to the good and still only managed a draw. READ MORE...

Chesterfield v Northampton Town Preview
Tuesday 8th March 2011 Since the debacle versus Morecambe, Chesterfield have picked two wins on the bounce, both with impressive performances.
The win over Wycombe was a superb one, a side just one place below the Spireites so to dismantle them so easily in the first half was a truely fascinating experience, especially fresh from the disappointment of the Morecambe game. Last Saturday, a hard fought three points against a good side was coupled with a major impressive show from Craig Davies. Tonight however will be a strong test for the Spireites, Northampton sacked manager Ian Sampson and have appointed former Yeovil, Bristol City and Peterborough boss Gary Johnson to lead the charges against the Spireites. Cheltenham 0 - 3 Chesterfield - Match Review
Sunday 6th March 2011 Chesterfield secured another three points in their quest to gain promotion at a very cold Cheltenham. Two goals by Craig Davies and a fine strike from Keiran Djilali settled the match and granted the Spireites their eighth away win of the season.
Chesterfield left out Jack Lester and replaced him with Djilali following Tuesday night's super victory over Wycombe Wanderers. Cheltenham remained unchanged from the win over bottom club Stockport County.
Cheltenham started brightly and forced Tommy Lee into a couple of saves from Jake Thomson and Wes Thomas. Chesterfield replied with a fine header from Dean Holden that just went wide... READ MORE...
Spireites Look To Down The Robins.
Cheltenham v Chesterfield Preview
Friday 4th March 2011 The Spireites can claim an impressive record at Whaddon Road, now called the Abbey Business Stadium. In their previous four visits, Chesterfield have never conceded a goal and come away with the full points on two occasions.
The Spireites haven't lost to the Robins in nine matches overall either, earlier on in the season, Chesterfield thumped the Cheltenham side 3-0 in what was a very one sided match. Craig Davies bagged a double on that day including an absolute belter from outside the area, which until we played against Shrewsbury was going to be a contender for goal of the season, whereupon in my opinion he bettered against the Shrews. Spireites Show Their Class
Chesterfield
4 - 1 Wycombe Wanderers
Wednesday 2nd March 2011 Chesterfield put their troubled performance on Saturday behind them with a blistering display against League Two's 2nd placed side.
Two goals within ten minutes in the first half from Smalley and a spot kick by Whitaker gave Chesterfield a half time lead. Jack Lester scored within 45 seconds of the restart to kill the game. Wycombe grabbed a small consolation through Jon Paul Pitman midway through the second half before Craig Davies finished off a fluid move to settle the match, and put Chesterfield 9 points clear again at the top. Spireites Look To Bounce Back.
Chesterfield v Wycombe Wanderers Match Preview
Monday 28th February 2011 In arguably the biggest game of Chesterfield's season, the Spirietes will look to bounce back from the worst performance of the season to take on Wycombe Wanderers - the nearest challengers to Chesterfield Title hopes.
The Spireites disappointing defeat at home to Morecambe was the lowlight of a terrible weekend results wise. Wycombe's victory over Macclesfield, which cut the Spireites lead of nine points down to six came at a price though, with Dave Winfield sent off in a 21 match brawl at Moss Rose. Manager Gary Waddock has chosen not to appeal against the decision so the centre half will start his three-match suspension rather than see his side take on the Spireites at the B2net. READ MORE...

Chesterfield 0 - 2 Morecambe
Monday 28th February 2011 Chesterfield tasted defeat at home for the first time since the end of November and failed to score for the first time at the B2net, as Morecambe ended a nine match winless run. Chesterfield born Kevan Hurst scored the game's opening goal followed by a Jimmy Spencer effort in the second half.
Chesterfield made one change to the side which defeated Bradford with Jack Lester replacing Scott Boden. Former Spireites Barry Roche and Kevan Hurst lined up in the Shrimps starting team. READ MORE...
Nine Ways. Chesterfield v Morecambe Match preview
Friday 25th February 2011 Chesterfield are nine points clear at the top of League Two, their opponents on Saturday are Morecambe, who haven't won in nine matches since a mid January victory over Torquay United. That victory brought an end three consecutive victories which included a superb win at Shrewsbury.
Morecambe and Chesterfield shared a common dream last summer when the finishing touches were put place to their respective new properties. Both clubs saw out their final seasons at their previous homes, Christie Park for the Shrimps and Saltergate for the Spireites. The new Globe Arena which Chesterfield visited in September has had its criticism, but for a club of Morecambes size, it is adequate and respectfully, it does have it's modern features. READ MORE...
Cloud Nine! Bradford City 0 - 1 Chesterfield
Wednesday 23rd February 2011 Chesterfield won at Bradford for the first time in 7 years and condemned Peter Taylor to his 1st defeat against a Chesterfield side when he has been manager at his previous clubs.
Deane Smalley scored the games only goal and kept up his good run of form with 6 goals in his last 7 matches and 8 in total. Chesterfield made just the one change with Deane Smalley coming back into the side following his suspension for one game after his sending off against Bury forced him to miss the game at Lincoln on Saturday. Simon Ford was replaced by the Oldham loanee, as he was taken off early at Sincil Bank. Drew Talbot kept up his right back berth and also kept hold of the captain's armband. READ MORE...

Bradford City v Chesterfield - Match Preview
Tuesday 22nd February 2011 Chesterfield's record versus Bradford City is not a great one, over the years you can look back to a remarkable match at Valley Parade in 2004 and a home victory in 2006.
A victory for the Spireites in 2007 was a hollow one as both sides having been already relegated by that time. Chesterfield have already played Bradford City this season, a disappointing result for the Spireites despite taking the lead through Danny Whitaker, two goals by David Syers and James Hanson gave the Bantams the initative early in the second half. Chesterfield then pressed and played some impressive passing football, but the Spireites relied on young Jordan Bowery to level on the death of the final whistle. READ MORE...
Impressive Spireites Defeat Imps. Lincoln City 0-2 Chesterfield
Sunday 20th February 2011 Chesterfield ended a winless run of five games, by defeating Lincoln City at Sincil Bank. Two goals in either half defeated the Red Imps, in what proved to be a much easier contest than the formbook suggested. Lincoln had been on a good run of form with only one defeat in eight matches, to push them away from relegation trouble.
Chesterfield and Lincoln met for the 100th time in the Football League on a damp day at the Sincil Bank Stadium. Chesterfield made four changes to the side which drew at Bury in midweek, with Mark Allott missing out with an ankle injury, Danny Whitaker being rested and dropping to the bench, Javan Vidal with a viral infection and Deane Smalley suspended. A Touch Of Drew - Chesterfield 1 - 0 Stevenage FC
Sunday 16th January 2011 Drew Talbot's fine strike moments before half time gave the Spirietes all three points against a workmanlike Stevenage side. The 6,219 crowd saw a knife-edge game with the Football League newboys, but it was that touch of class that separated the two sides.
Chesterfield made three changes to the side that defeated Southend at Roots Hall last week - Craig Davies replaced Deane Smalley in the starting line up, a rather harsh decision on Smalley as the loanee had scored twice in two matches. ...Looking Ahead. Gillingham v Chesterfield
Friday 17th December 2010 Another Saturday beckons, and the Spirieite show hits the road again, this time heading down to Kent and their opponents Gillingham FC - weather permitting of course.
Now back in League 2 after relegation last season The Gills have hit an excellent run of form of late, but only out of Priestfield - bagging wIns from theIr last three away matches. They've fared less well at home though - notching up three consecutive losses in front of their home crowd. So ... surely on paper at least, the 13th in the league team should not pose a big threat for top of the table Spireites... READ MORE...

U Couldn't Believe it - Chesterfield v Oxford - A Fan's View
Thursday 25th November 2010 If someone had said to me that we would be second in the table coming into the league programme in December, I would have said thank you very much.
But, because we have been top and are now in the said position, all of a sudden cracks appear to be arising.
Sometimes harsh reactions are a question of previous as opposed to future. Chesterfield has notoriously been a good first half of season team in say the past ten years, maybe even more. So the supporters who were shocked into last nights defeat, are all too aware that this setback had a little bit of previous about it. READ MORE...
