Panthers Crowned League Champions After 28 Years!

Panthers Crowned League Champions After 28 Year WaitTuesday 8th April 2014 Chesterfield Panthers 1st XV have been crowned league champions - for the first time in over 25 years, following their confirmation of promotion, Chesterfield cruised to victory over Keyworth RUFC on Saturday 5th April with a 90 - 0 win.

Such was the volume of tries and conversions during the match that the referee struggled to keep up with the score resulting in an official full-time recording of 83 - 0.

Fans at Dunston Road watched the Panthers run in 14 tries on home soil, to cement their name in history once again, 28 years after the club's glory days! READ MORE...

Panthers On Target To Be Crowned Champions. Match Report

Panthers On Target To Be Crowned Champions. Match ReportTuesday 25th March 2014 Chesterfield travelled to Cleethorpes on a coach trip with their barmy army of fans - who outnumbered the home team's supporters - and created a great atmosphere for the Panthers.

A hard ground in windy conditions didn't make for a great spectacle of game. But a win is a win - and Panthers were happy to take their 15th consecutive victory.

Under horrible conditions, the game was very scrappy from the off for both sides. In spite of having most of the possession however, Chesterfield failed to finish off some well worked set pieces from the forwards. READ MORE...

A victory away against Belper on Saturday not only secured the mighty Panthers their 14th win in a row, but also promotion. Now all they need to do is continue their winning streak until the end of the season and take the top position in the table.

Chesterfield Panthers came into their 19th game of the season still having only lost one game all year, requiring only one point to secure promotion. READ MORE...

Panthers Back On The Victory Trail After A Four Week Break

Panthers Back On The Victory Trail After A Four Week BreakWednesday 12th March 2014 After four weeks without any action, Chesterfield Panthers were fired up ready to continue where they had left off and eager to strengthen their position at the top of the league away to Worksop.

On the day, conditions were near perfect, with only a steady wind to effect play. Panthers kicked off the first half but conceded a string of penalties early on that led to Worksop having a shot at goal that was fortunately missed.

It was obvious to see Chesterfield had lacked game time due to a number of mistakes and poor work at the breakdown, leaving players isolated... READ MORE...

Difficult Conditions See Panthers Return To Winning Ways

Difficult Conditions See Panthers Return To Winning WaysTuesday 11th February 2014 Chesterfield returned to winning ways after being held to a draw at Amber Valley two weeks ago, even without several key players, including the majestic Tom Rice, Panthers still fielded a strong squad.

Ashfield posed a serious threat as the only team to have beaten Amber Valley so far this season.

Conditions were far from ideal with strong winds blowing across the pitch, which made both handling and kicking difficult. This would once again play into the hands of the opponents who favoured a more forward orientated game plan. READ MORE...

Tough Local Derby - And Win No 10 - Keeps Panthers On Top

Tough Local Derby - And 10th Win In A Row - Keeps Chesterfield Panthers On TopTuesday 21st January 2014 Chesterfield Panthers were on the hunt for a double against their local rivals Tupton on Saturday, to further increase their lead at the top of the table.

Emotions were running high at Chesterfield as they started to come to terms with their current standing in the league - and the hurdles in front of them to remain in first place.

A nervy start to the game tested the home side's defensive resolve early on as the visitors dominated possession as a result of penalties going... READ MORE...

Panthers Maintain Top Of The Table Position With Another WinTuesday 14th January 2014 Chesterfield Panthers travelled to league opposition Nottinghamians in high spirits following their recent run of form that's taken them to the top of the table for the first time in over 10 years.

And their high spirits remained on the return journey having notched up their ninth consecutive win to retain their top of the table position.

Panthers Win Again In Spite Of Injury Depleted Pack

Panthers Win Again In Spite Of Injury Depleted PackMonday 16th December 2013 After last week's convincing 47-0 win over Cleethorpes at home, Panthers, with an injury depleted pack and carrying no recognised second row, this week travelled south to league opposition Keyworth, where they triumphed once again.

Panthers' captain, Steve Avenier, was at full fitness returning from the bench to add two tries to Panthers' tally.

The game kicked off amid severe winds, the conditions really not suiting either kickers or hookers. Despite their league standings, Keyworth really... READ MORE...

Another Win For Chesterfield Panthers

Another Win For Chesterfield PanthersThursday 28th November 2013 Panthers played away to Bingham last weekend who, despite their lowly position in the league, are no push-over, having played most of the top sides and not conceded many tries.

While celebrations for the official opening of the ground were taking place on home turf, the Panthers 1st XV were able to extend celebrations away, with yet another win in the bag and the return of Captain Steven Avenier after three weeks' of injury.

Panthers started the game at a high tempo and, at times, it was their undoing. Often trying to force the game, they made a few errors. READ MORE...

Panthers Back To Winning Ways Against Belper. Match Report

Chesterfield Panthers Back To Winning Ways Against Belper. Match ReportTuesday 12th November 2013 This weekend's fixture against Belper, proved that Chesterfield Panthers 1st XV has returned to their winning form and are proving a formidable team to beat on their home turf.

Belper themselves are a strong side, who's league position does not credit them. They are well organised and drilled and with strong running backs, which proved difficult for Panthers to make any inroads against the visitors' tenacious defence.

In fact, despite all Panthers' forward power, the deadlock was not broken until acting captain Rob Collins decided to take the game to the opposition. READ MORE...
