Alfreton Town have signed former Barnet, Gateshead and Blyth Spartans midfielder Nicky Deverdics.Tuesday 21st February 2012 Alfreton Town have signed former Barnet, Gateshead and Blyth Spartans midfielder Nicky Deverdics.

Nicky, 24, began his career as a trainee with Newcastle United, but after making several appearances for the reserves, he was released at the end of the 2005/06 season. Upon his release he joined Alfreton's league rivals Gateshead, leaving to join STL Northern League side Bedlington Terriers in December 2006.

In March 2007, he moved to Gretna and played six times, scoring once, as the border club clinched promotion to the Scottish Premier League. READ MORE...

Every Game Important Now For Battling AlfretonWednesday 15th February 2012 Alfreton Town now have just one target left for the season, having bowed out of this season's FA Trophy competition in a narrow 2-1 defeat at Gateshead on Tuesday evening.

Nicky Law's
side now have 15 league games left in which to accrue the necessary amount of points to preserve their hard-won Blue Square Bet Premier Division place.

Thursday 9th February 2012 Alfreton Town's Blue Square Bet Premier Division home game with Mansfield Town has been moved back one week from Tuesday, March 13th and has now been arranged for Tuesday, March 20th, with a 7.45pm kick-off at the Impact Arena.

The fixture has been moved under instructions from the Football Conference, arising from Police involvement with the Derby County v Nottingham Forest Championship fixture, also on March 13th.

Alfreton FC Director John Glasby is Praised by Chairman  For Community SchemeWednesday 8th February 2012 Alfreton Town chairman Wayne Bradley has paid tribute to the efforts of club director John Glasby who has overseen the setting up of a brand new community scheme for the club, which will provide employment for up to 40 people over the next two years.

After months of planning, the scheme became reality on Monday, January 30th, when the first four apprentices were taken on, employed by the club.

Alfreton Town In Middle Of A Bleak Mid-WinterWednesday 8th February 2012 Alfreton Town's twice-postponed FA Carlsberg Trophy third round tie at Gateshead has left the club looking at a very bleak mid-winter period in terms of incoming revenue.

Last Saturday's game was postponed due to a frozen pitch at Gateshead's International Stadium and then rearranged for Tuesday which also fell to the freezing elements. Tuesday should have seen a money spinning home league game against Mansfield Town and that has now been rearranged for Tuesday, March 13th.

Wednesday 8th February 2012 Alfreton Town's home game against Stockport County in the Blue Square Premier Division has been rearranged for Tuesday, March 6th, 2012, with a 7.45pm kick-off.

The game has been moved from Tuesday, February 14th, due to the outstanding FA Carlsberg Trophy third round tie at Gateshead.

Tuesday 7th February 2012 Alfreton Town's FA Carlsberg Trophy third round tie at Gateshead FC tonight has been postponed for a second time due to a frozen pitch at the International Stadium.
 
The tie has now been re-scheduled for Tuesday, February 14th with a 7.45pm kick-off. The club will announce a new date for the Blue Square Bet Premier Division home fixture against Stockport County which was originally due to be played next Tuesday as soon as it is confirmed. Alfreton Town are next due to play on Saturday when they travel to Kent to take on Ebbsfleet United in Blue Square Bet Premier Division action. Kick-off is 3pm.

Reds Travel To Gateshead In FA Carlsberg Trophy ClashFriday 3rd February 2012 Alfreton Town will be aiming to reach the fourth round of the FA Carlsberg Trophy for only the third time in their history when they travel to Gateshead on Saturday.

The Reds have only reached the fourth round on two previous occasions before. In 2002/03 they were knocked out 2-0 in a fourth round replay by eventual winners Burscough. Alfreton should have had the first game sewn up but their failure to capitalise on their dominance saw several untaken chances punished to the full in the replay on Merseyside.

The second occasion in the fourth round was in 2004/05 when they lost 3-0 at home to then Conference Premier club, Woking. READ MORE....

Alfreton Town have signed 6'2" central defender Darran Kempson on contract to the end of the 2011/12 season. 

Kempson, 27,  was a free agent after having a two-year contract with Grimsby Town cancelled by mutual consent in December 2011. He had been club captain at Blundell Park. He has a wealth of experience at Conference Premier level and above and his list of former clubs include Morecambe, Wrexham, Shrewsbury Town, Crewe Alexandra and Accrington Stanley. He will wear squad number 26 and has been added to Nicky Law's squad for Saturday's league game at Luton Town.

Reds Take Chesterfield Midfielder On Loan

Friday 20th January 2012 Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law has strengthened his squad ahead of Saturday's Blue Square Bet Premier Division home game with Kidderminster Harriers with the addition of Chesterfield midfield player Craig Clay.

The 5'11" tall Nottingham-born player is described as "A combative midfield player with a never-say-die attitude". Craig, 19, has made six appearances for the Spireites this season, all as substitute, with four in the league, one in the FA Cup and one in the League Cup.

He will wear squad number 22 during his stay at the Impact Arena which will be until March 3rd, 2012, inclusive.

Adam Quinn Commits His Future To Alfreton Town FCFriday 6th January 2012 Alfreton Town FC said that they are delighted to announce that they have made the signing of central defender Adam Quinn a permanent one.

The vastly experienced Quinn, 29, joined the Reds initially on loan from Darlington on November 24th but he has now signed a contract to stay at the Impact Arena until the end of the 2012/2013 season.

Midfielder Mackin Leaves RedsWednesday 4th January 2012 Alfreton Town have parted company with central midfield player Levi Mackin whose contract has been terminated by mutual agreement.

Mackin, 25,(left) joined the Reds in early July after being released by York City but he has struggled to keep a starting shirt, making 14 appearances in all competitions, including one as a substitute, out of a possible total of 32. He scored twice for the Reds, netting the penalty which helped gain Alfreton's 1-0 August Bank Holiday Monday victory at York City and once in the 3-2 defeat at Gresley FC in the Derbyshire Senior Cup. Tuesday 13th December 2011 Alfreton Town have been handed an away tie at Weymouth in the second round of the FA Carlsberg Trophy.

Barnsley's Luke Potter joins Alfreton Town FC on a months loanFriday 21st October 2011 Alfreton Town has signed 6'4" central defender Luke Potter, 22, on a month's loan from npower Championship side Barnsley.

Potter's loan is until November 12th inclusive is cleared to appear in this season's FA Cup for the Reds. An Academy graduate with the Tykes, he has made 15 senior appearances for Barnsley and has also had loan spells with Stafford Rangers and Kettering Town with whom he made 22 appearances in the Blue Square Bet Premier Division in '08-'09. A versatile player, Luke has also played at left-back as well as in central defence. He's been given squad number 25 for his term at the Impact Arena and will be available for Saturday's derby game at Mansfield Town.

Lee Stevenson joins Alfreton Town FC on a months loan from MansfieldWednesday 12th October 2011 Alfreton Town have signed Mansfield Town midfield player Lee Stevenson on a month's loan until November 7th.

The 27-year-old former Belper Town and Eastwood Town midfield player joined the Stags in summer from the Badgers but has made just one appearance for Mansfield this season.

Stevenson scored 96 goals in the last three seasons from attacking midfield, helping Eastwood to a fourth-placed finish in Blue Square Bet North last season after joining from Belper Town in the summer of 2010. He has been allocated squad number 23.

Joe Day joins Alfreton Town FC on a month's LoanThursday 6th September 2011 Alfreton Town have signed Peterborough United goalkeeper Joe Day on a one-month loan deal.

Day, 21, stands just over 6'3" tall and moved to The Posh in April 2011 from Rushden & Diamonds for an undisclosed fee thought to be in the region of £100,000. He made 41 first team appearances for the Diamonds in total and was named Player of the Year last season. He has yet to play in Peterborough's first team.

Joe is in line for his debut in Saturday's Blue Square Bet Premier Division home game against Kettering Town. He has been allocated squad number 21.

has no new injury worries but does have defender Leigh Franks suspended for one game after he accrued his 5th caution of the season during last Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Kidderminster Harriers.

Roger, 72, passed away early on Wednesday after a short illness. One of life's genuine gentlemen, Roger was brought to the club in 1987 by then Chairman Sean Egan, and he went on to serve his beloved Reds for almost a quarter-of-a-century.

Sunday 6th February 2011 After yesterday's FA Trophy third round tie finished all square at 1-1, it's been announced by the Reds that Alfreton Town's replay with Mansfield Town will take place on Tuesday, February 8th. The match will not be all ticket but segregation will be in place for visiting fans.

Saturday 22nd January 2011 Following an early morning pitch inspection, Alfreton Town's game at Worcester City was postponed due to a frost-affected St George's Lane pitch. A new date for this fixture will be announced shortly.

Dale Roberts, ex-Alfreton keeper who died at the age of 24Wednesday 15th December 2010

Alfreton Town Football Club has expressed sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of their former goalkeeper Dale Roberts.

Dale passed away at the tender age of 24 on Tuesday afternoon.

Gary Mills made Roberts his first signing in the summer of 2006 and Dale made 47 appearances in the 2006/07 season for Alfreton Town.

He was an ever-present throughout the league campaign, playing in all forty two Conference North matches and five cup-ties during a hugely impressive season - long loan spell from Nottingham Forest.

Reds Asked To Lend A Helping Hand To Stags

Friday 3rd December 2010 Alfreton Town are tonight considering a request from Blue Square Premier Division neighbours Mansfield Town to ground share at the Impact Arena.

The BBC has reported that the Stags "Have been locked out of their (Field Mill) ground by the stadium's owners in a row over rent". Preliminary negotiations are in their infancy but Alfreton are sympathetic to the Stags' plight and as such are positive to exploring the possibility of a ground share.

The club have told The Chesterfield Post that there will be no further news from Alfreton Town on the situation unless the infancy talks mature.
