10 Reasons To Give Up Your Car
In 2021

Friday 12th March 2021

Yes, it may sound drastic but giving up your car could be the best decision you make in 2021.

Here’s why...

1. You are going to get in better shape.

If you don’t have a car, you will have to use the other ways of getting around.

The most common solutions are walking and biking. People using cabs and public transport tend to walk more compared to those driving. You will find yourself getting into shape without putting in much effort. All you have to do is go about your daily business.

This is one of the biggest benefits you can expect to get when you give up your car.

2. You are going to spend a lot less.

While you are going to pay for cabs and buses regularly, you are going to spend way less than what you spend when you have a car.

You have to spend a fortune when buying a car, then you have to factor in gas, insurance, maintenance, and other costs that add up pretty fast.

Because you don’t have to spend all that money, you will be left with something you can use to spend on the more important things.

You can even decide to put that cash in your investment or savings account.

3. It is good for the environment.

Technology has improved today and there are many options when it comes to green cars.

Electrical cars have become a great alternative for those who don’t want to pollute the environment. But you can go the extra step of not driving any car. If you are concerned about the environment, then you should consider vehicle recycling because it makes a difference.

You start to become a solution instead of being part of the problem.

4. Being closer to the community.

Those who don’t drive usually spend more time around the neighborhood.

This is because you have to go to the stores frequently because you no longer go with a car and fill the trunk with things you need for the entire month. You will be walking more often. This gives you a chance to know your neighborhood more and your neighbours too.

This will help in fostering a sense of community in the area.

5. You see more of the world.

There are a lot of things that go on that you cannot see if you are driving.

When you choose to walk around, you see more and also live in the present moment. By slow-walking or biking, you notice more things around you. You will notice yourself living in the present.

This is going to improve your life a lot.

6. Reduced stress levels.

There is a lot of stress that comes with driving a car.

You have to deal with road problems from time to time, and it leaves you feeling stressed. Emergencies on the road and financial concerns are known to cause a lot of stress. You can avoid a lot of problems by choosing not to have a car.

You might get stressed when the bus is late, but it is not that much of a problem.

7. You will enjoy driving

One thing that I noticed when I stopped owning a car is that I enjoyed driving a car when I had the chance.

I drive when going on day trips or vacations. Since this doesn’t happen regularly. I find it more exciting and fun.

Driving every day becomes stressful and exhausting.

8. You are going to drive great cars.

If you don’t have your own, most of the ones you are going to be driving are borrowed cars and rental cars.

Most of these cars are going to be in good shape. They tend to be new and clean. You will be comfortable driving these cars.

These cars are going to be better than the car you have now.

9. More conscious about your choice to drive.

One thing I am trying to do is to start making more conscious decisions instead of doing things because it is a habit.

If you don’t have a car, you are going to think more about reasons for wanting a car.

If you decide that you need to get a car again, it is going to be something that you really needed instead of something you have to just because you have always wanted it.

10. You get a good glimpse into the future.

Cars are bad for the environment and society.

It is hard to do away with cars because society has believed that a person must have a car to get around.

You can become an example for others by giving up your car.
