Shoppers in Chesterfield are being invited to meet with their local Safer Neighbourhood policing team and find out how to stay safe.Shoppers in Chesterfield are being invited to meet with their local Safer Neighbourhood policing team and find out how to stay safe.

The team are holding two surgeries next week in the town centre, and giving people the chance to pick up free purse chains.

PCSO Adele Chapman-Jones of the Chesterfield Town Centre Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team has organised the surgeries as part of a series of events to help shoppers stay safe.

She said, "We've already given out advice on safer shopping to hundreds of people during two previous events, and handed out more than 450 free purse chains.

"The surgeries are about making sure people know how to protect themselves from having their purse or wallet stolen, so that shoppers can feel safe and enjoy their time in the town centre."

They will take place between 11am and 2pm on Thursday, July 4th and 10am and 1pm on Friday, July 5th in the Mobile Police Office, outside Marks and Spencer on High Street.
