Alfreton Live And Kicking On TV Tonight

Friday 9th November 2012

Alfreton Live And Kicking On TV TonightAlfreton Town welcome both the Premier Sports TV cameras and Blue Square Bet Premier Division league leaders Newport County to the Impact Arena for what promises to be a big live game of football tonight, kick off at 7:45pm.

The Reds will be looking to bounce back from Tuesday night's disappointing 2-0 defeat at Gateshead and there are no new injury worries or suspensions to worry about for Manager Nicky Law who has the double boost of welcoming back joint top scorers Dan Bradley and Ben Tomlinson from one match suspensions.

The defeat on Tyneside ended a four-match unbeaten run in all competitions and Alfreton will be seeking only a second home league win of the campaign to try and haul themselves away from the bottom four places in the table.

Newport arrive with a four-point lead at the top of the table after a great start to the season although second-placed Wrexham have a game in hand.

In their last outing on Tuesday night, County smashed Cambridge United 6-2 at their Rodney Parade ground, but that was a first win in five games in all competitions, which included a shock 3-1 home replay defeat in the FA Cup by Yate Town and a 3-2 reverse against Woking in the league.

On the road so far this season, Justin Edinburgh's side have played eight, won five, drawn once, lost twice and only recorded one clean sheet, that coming in a 3-0 win at Barrow. The other victories have come at Mansfield Town (4-3), Braintree Town (2-1), AFC Telford United (4-2) and Tamworth (2-1).

The drawn game was at Macclesfield Town (1-1) whilst defeats have been tasted at Wrexham (2-0) and Dartford (2-1).

Newport's points total on the road is 16 with home games providing the other 20 out of their total of 36.

Last season the honours were even between the sides with both teams winning their home games. The Reds won the first game 3-2 on Tuesday, December 6th, thanks to an 89th minute Nathan Jarman winner. The Exiles had led early doors via an Elliott Buchanan goal after just four minutes and they drew level on 59 through Gary Warren after Anthony Church (29 mins) and Jake Moult (38 mins) had put the Reds in front in front of 579.

The return game in South Wales saw Alfreton go down 1-0 in the penultimate game of the season on Saturday, April 21st, when Romone Rose netted the only goal of the game on 38 minutes in front of 1,239.

VISITING FANS

There is no segregation in place for tonight's fixture, but Newport County supporters are requested to enter the stadium via the away turnstiles at the Alma Street end of the Impact Arena only.

Admission is £18 for adults and £12 for concessions (under 16s and over 65s). However, there is an Earlybird Matchday Ticket scheme which can be taken advantage of which gains admission for £16 or £11 respectively.

The match day programme is priced at £3. Catering and toilet facilities are available for away fans as well as covered terracing and a limited number of covered seats.
