Derbyshire County Cricket Club has announced that Wayne Madsen and Tim Groenewald have been capped.

Wayne Madsen is capped by Derbyshire CCC as well as Tim GroenewaldThe two players were presented with their County Caps by Head of Cricket John Morris during the lunch interval on day three of the LV = County Championship match against Leicestershire at the County Ground.

Both players have been in fine form during the current match; Madsen scoring a first innings century while Groenewald followed his bowling performance of 5 for 69 with an unbeaten 60 in the lower-middle order.

Both players made their first-class debuts for Derbyshire midway through the '09 season and have progressed to become integral members of the team.

Madsen (pictured) scored 170 not out on debut and has reached three figures on a further seven occasions. Groenewald's 86 first-class wickets for Derbyshire have come at an average of below 30 and both players have also enjoyed success in the limited-overs forms of the game.

John Morris said: "Neither of these players had much first-class cricket under their belts when they joined the Club but we knew they both had considerable potential.

"The presentation of their County Caps shows that both players are now fulfilling that potential and they have become valuable members of our team.

"This is a duo of players who attack their cricket with great desire and consummate professionalism and they are both thoroughly deserving of this honour."

Luke Sutton, Greg Smith and Steffan Jones join Madsen and Groenewald as the capped members of the current squad.
