Derbyshire CCC On Barbados Tour

Derbyshire's players and coaching staff departed for Barbados early yesterday morning where they will step up their pre-season preparations.

John Morris, Coach, Derbyshire County Cricket ClubAcademy left-arm spinner Tom Knight, 17, has been included in the touring party for the trip that will begin with a two day Twenty20 tournament during the forthcoming weekend.

John Morris's (pictured left) side face Essex at the quarter-final stage of the eight-team tournament at the Kensington Oval on Saturday.

If the Falcons are victorious, they will qualify for the Finals Day of the Twenty20 competition at the same venue on the following day.

Fixtures between the opening day's losing 4 will take place at alternative venues.


Derbyshire's full match itinerary for the trip is as follows:

Twenty20 Cup - Saturday 19th March v Essex. Kensington oval.

Twenty20 Cup - Sunday 20th March v TBC. Venue TBC.

2 Day Friendly - 22nd and 23rd March v Hampshire. Venue TBC.

40 Over Friendly - Saturday 26th March v Warwickshire. North Stars CC.

Derbyshire County Cricket Club is teaming up with the Derby Telegraph to provide news from each day of the Club's tour of Barbados and visit derbyshireccc.com for regular updates and tour news.

The tour has been made possible by a kind donation from Committee Member Chris Grant who has financed more than half of the trip out of his own pocket.

Derbyshire are one of five counties involved in the tour alongside Yorkshire, Hampshire, Essex and Warwickshire.
