Two Off-Road Bikes Seized In
NE Derbyshire

Tuesday 21st September 2010
As part of an ongoing crackdown against nuisance riders, Police in North Derbyshire have seized two off road bikes.

A bike was seized from a 17-year-old boy on Gomersal Lane, Dronfield, after he was found to be riding without insurance. The bike was seized under the Road Traffic Act.

A further bike was seized on the Trans Pennine Trail after members of the public complained about a nuisance bike.

Officers, who were on bicycle patrol, caught a 16-year-old girl illegally riding along the trail between Killamarsh and Renishaw. The bike was seized under the Police Reform Act and will only be returned if someone with the correct insurance and ownership documents pays to have it released.

The girl was also warned regarding her behaviour towards officers and her unacceptable language in the presence of members of the public.

PC Pete McVeigh, of the Eckington Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "We are conducting regular bicycle patrols around north east Derbyshire which enables us to cover a bigger area than on foot.

"We will be taking action against anyone engaged in anti-social behaviour in the area."
