Reds Can Write Themselves Into
The Record Books

Thursday 9th September 2010
NICKY Law's side can write themselves into the Alfreton Town record books if they achieve victory at Nuneaton Town this Saturday.

Two second half goals last weekend saw off Vauxhall Motors 2-0 and extended the Reds' perfect start to the Blue Square Bet North campaign to seven wins out of seven games in which they have scored 21 goals and conceded just four.

Connor Franklin opened the scoring on 57 minutes with a powerful six yard header into the roof of the net and victory was wrapped up by Nathan Arnold on 83 minutes with a neat slot past the visiting keeper. The Reds could even afford a missed 30th minute Liam Hearn penalty that struck the base of a post.

The victory equalled the club's best ever start to a campaign, set way back in 1969, a season in which Alfreton won the Midland League, Derbyshire Senior Cup and also reached the FA Cup first round proper for the first time ever.

However, Law's side can now stand alone if they can make it eight out of eight with success at Nuneaton's Liberty Way.

The Reds will travel with total confidence for so far on the road, Alfreton have won 5-1 at Redditch United, 5-1 at Hyde and 4-1 at Blyth Spartans.

But the Warwickshire side are unbeaten in three games at home and have only lost once in seven games so far, drawing three, statistics which mean it will be one of the toughest tests of the campaign.

Prior to the Vauxhall Motors game last Saturday, Alfreton manager Nicky Law was presented with his Blue Square Bet North manager of the month award for August.

For the Nuneaton game, Nicky Law will however be without Jake Moult again who is recovering from a minor shin injury which has kept him out of the last two victories.

Transport

Transport to the Nuneaton game on Saturday departs at 10.30am and seats can be booked by contacting Mark Thorpe on 01773 836251.

Segregation

Supporters should note that segregation will be in place for the Boston United home game the following week on Saturday, September 18.

Alfreton fans can still gain entrance to the home section of the Alma Street stand by using the home turnstiles at that end of the ground.

Access via the Bentley Close/North Street end is as per usual for home fans.

Boston United fans can only gain access to the ground via the away turnstiles at the Alma Street end of the Impact Arena.

Segregation will also be in place for the visit of AFC Telford United on Saturday, October 16.
