Reds On Unbeaten Run Of Four Games

Thursday 11th November 2010

ALFRETON Town manager Nicky Law says he is relishing this season's title chase.

Nicky LawThe Reds have twice been knocked off the top of the table in the last fortnight by Boston United, only to return to the summit as Law's side continue their own winning ways.

Alfreton were edged into second place on goal difference after Boston beat Corby Town 1-0 on Tuesday evening.

But the Reds have two games in hand on the Lincolnshire side and, even at this early stage of the season, they could play a very big part.

Law said: "We are really enjoying the chase for the title and I think this is going to be one of the most open races for quite a few seasons.

"Aside from ourselves, there are some very big clubs and good teams on very good runs which is going to make it really interesting, especially amongst the chasing clubs.

"We can only do what we have been doing and that is keep winning which, fortunately, we are focusing on and managing to do at the moment."

The Reds made it four games unbeaten with a first ever victory at Hinckley United last Saturday.

After a goalless first half, Law's side produced the goods and three goals in the second period. The victory extended Alfreton's perfect away record this season to six wins from six games on the road.

Law is keeping his squad on it's toes and his impressive use of the rotation system is certainly paying dividends. That fact was backed up by a first goal of the season from midfield player Ian Ross and one from Laurie Wilson, both of whom are scrapping it out for a starting slot across the middle in a keenly competitive area of the side.

Liam HearnLiam Hearn's (pictured left) ninth goal of the campaign had put the Reds in front.

The Reds will be looking to continue their winning ways when they entertain Harrogate Town this Saturday.

Kick-off at the Impact Arena is 3pm.

There is no midweek game again next week which will give Law's side a good break before they enter this season's FA Trophy competition.

This is a home game against Evo-Stik Premier Division side Kendal Town who visit the Impact Arena on Saturday, November 20th to contest a third qualifying round tie.
