A Day To Remember

Wednesday 31st October 2012

Chesterfield's Civic Remembrance Service will take place on Sunday, 11th November, at the Parish Church, starting at 2.30pm followed by a parade to the War Memorial on Rose Hill, in front of the Town Hall, for a wreath-laying ceremony at approximately 3.15pm and members of the public are invited to attend both events.

Chesterfield's Civic Remembrance Service will take place on Sunday, 11th November, at the Parish Church, starting at 2.30pmCouncillor Don Parsons, Mayor of Chesterfield said: "Remembrance Day is a very special day for many people who have either lived through wars or lost family and loved ones in past and present conflicts.  We expect to have large numbers in the Parish Church, so would ask that people either arrive early or watch the parade for the wreath-laying at the War Memorial."

To give people time to attend their local Acts of Remembrance, the usual formal gathering at the War Memorial on Rose Hill at 11am will not take place this year.

No car parking will be allowed in the road outside the Town Hall on Rose Hill on Sunday, because of the parade and service.

Rose Hill itself will be closed to vehicular traffic from about 3.15pm for approximately 30 - 45 minutes while the wreath-laying ceremony is held.

Car parks at the back of the Town Hall will remain open to the public.

For further information contact Mary Stead, Democratic Services Officer, on 01246 345236.
