Panthers Press Release

Sunday 12th Septemebr 2010

Land Bought For New Club FacilitiesChesterfield Panthers Rugby Union Football Club is pleased to announce the acquisition of land at Dunston on the northern outskirts of the town as the future home for this expanding Club.

This long awaited purchase will allow the Club to begin the transition from it's current home at Stonegravels (which, with over 250 players at mini, junior, senior and ladies rugby, it has long since outgrown), to a modern purpose built sports facility over the next two years. The new facility will provide a modern Clubhouse and function suite with three pitches, two of them being floodlit, and a floodlit training area.

The site will also incorporate a community sports area with two full sized football pitches and a cricket square plus a recreational and play facility for use by all of the areas young people.

The whole site will be managed by the Club and in line with their sport for all policy provision will be made for use by sports clubs and groups within the area for their own respective requirements.

Work on levelling the site will commence this autumn with completion by late spring next year and the construction of the facilities will begin around June 2011 for completion by December that year.

It is anticipated that the Club's teams will begin playing at their new home during the 2011/2012 season.

Further information on this exciting and long overdue project can be obtained from Graham Bell, Chairman of the Club's Relocation Committee at jaffabells@talktalk.net or Fred Pell at thepells@btinternet.com
