Alfreton (27pts) 253-6 [50 overs] (G Bush 64, A Gwatkin 89*)
beat
Ilkeston Rutland (7pts) 205 all out [50 overs] (A Park 58, D Shelton 41,
L Marriott 43, A Burton 4-50, T Young 3-50)
by 48 runs

REPORT: Alfreton off the mark

A superb unbeaten 89 from Andy Gwatkin helped Alfreton post a solid 253 for 6 which in turn led to a 48-run win over Ilkeston Rutland, a result which sees Ilkeston replace Alfreton at the foot of the table.

Graham Bush (64) dominated an opening stand of 62 with a surprisingly sedate Jake Simpson and then helped Gwatkin add 84 for the second wicket from where Alfreton were always dominant. Other batsmen came and went but Gwatkin kept the scoreboard moving, leaving Ilkeston a mountain to climb after tea.

The mountain immediately got bigger after the break with the early loss of Dave Smit although Alex Park (58) and Martin Brandrick (27) consolidated with a stand of 46. Adam Burton (4-50) and Tom Young (3-50) confirmed Alfreton's superiority, Ilkeston slipping to 112 for 5, but the visitors regained some respectability through Dan Shelton (41) and Luke Marriott (43) who added 54 for the sixth wicket. It looked for all the world that Marriott would at least seal a draw for Ilkeston but Alfreton skipper Alex Mace brought himself on for the last over and trapped Marriott in front off the last ball, much to the delight of his teammates.

3. A Gwatkin - 2. A Burton - 1. G Bush

Chesterfield (4pts) 158 all out [36 overs] (J Jordison 3-26, R McFadyean 3-54,
D Wheeldon 3-76)
lost to
Sandiacre Town (22pts) 159-5 [34.5 overs] (J Trueman 67*, M Deane 4-57)
by 5 wickets

REPORT: Trueman guides leaders to sixth win

John Trueman's unbeaten 67 steered Beechwood Saab Premier League leaders Sandiacre Town to their sixth win of the campaign but a battling Chesterfield side made them work hard for their runs in reply.

The home side never properly recovered from the early run out of Ben Slater, after being put in by their opponents, and a combination of Ryan McFadyean (3-54), Dan Wheeldon (3-76) and John Jordison (3-26) saw Chesterfield slump to 118 for 8. Only Simon Lacey (24) and Tim Kirk (22*) had made any real impact up to that point but a late cameo from Michael Deane (25) helped the score along to a more respectable 158.

Deane grabbed the early wicket of James Chapman after tea on his way to a fine 4 for 57 but Trueman (67*) and Naveed Qureshi (26) steadied the Sandiacre ship with a 45-run stand for the second wicket. Deane continued to cause problems and the visitors slipped to 98 for 4 but Rob Attwood (22) joined Trueman in a fifth wicket partnership of 47 and they were almost home and dry. The elusive wicket of Trueman could not be found, however, and Sandiacre eased home by five wickets in the 35th over to maintain their 22pt lead at the top of the table.

3. J Trueman - 2. M Deane - 1. J Jordison

Lullington Park (2pts) 110 all out [39 overs] (S Eaton 50, C Jennings 4- 36,
K Raza 3-31, S Chilman 3-23)
lost to
Dunstall (22pts) 111-4 [29.1 overs] (T Mandleburg 52, S Chilman 33*)
by 6 wickets

REPORT: Disappointing Park

Lullington Park suffered their second defeat of the season, going down by six wickets at the hands of local-rivals Dunstall.

The reigning champions were going along fairly nicely on 89 for 2, with Sam Eaton (50) well on his way to a half-century, but Scott Chilman (3-23) and newly-arrived overseas player Kashif Raza (3-31) kick-started a collapse which eventually saw the home side shot out for just 110. Craig Jennings (4-36), having taking two early wickets, returned to finish off a disappointing Lullington tail.

Graham Dent had James Benstead caught at the wicket soon after the break but Tom Mandleberg (52) and Chilman (33) put on 63 for the second wicket to all but guarantee the Dunstall win. George Chapman (2-3) picked up a couple of wickets following Mandleberg's run-out but Dunstall were not to be denied and eased home off the first ball of the 30th over.

3. S Chilman - 2. C Jennings - 1. S Eaton

Ockbrook & Borrowash (22pts) 164-1 [29.5 overs] (J Guthrie 54*, J Owen 85*)
beat
Quarndon (2pts) 163 all out [34.3 overs] (M Sultan 33, J Lowe 32, K Dean 4-36)
by 9 wickets

REPORT: Ockbrook cruise past Quarndon

Ockbrook maintained their Premier League title challenge with an easy nine wicket win over Quarndon who were bowled out for a below par 163.

Kevin Dean's man-of-the-match 4 for 36 proved too much for Quarndon and only Mohammed Sultan (33) and Josh Lowe (32) were able to respond.

An early loss after tea failed to unsettle Ockbrook who cruised to victory in just 29.5 overs with Jonny Guthrie (54*) and Jonny Owen (85*) at the helm.

3. K Dean - 2. J Owen - 1. J Guthrie

Rolls Royce Leisure (4pts) 93 all out [29.2 overs] (H Nawaz 30, A Gray 3-12,
T Palladino 3-17)
lost to
Alvaston & Boulton (27pts) 269-9 [50 overs] (H Adnan 100*, C McIlroy 59,
S Stubbings 34, M Tariq 3-41)
by 176 runs

REPORT: A & B relief at second win

Alvaston & Boulton at last put some much-needed space between themselves and the relegation zone with a crushing victory over fast-sinking Rolls Royce Leisure.

Steve Stubbings (34) and Chris McIlroy (59) gave A & B the perfect start with a stand of 70 but it was Hassan Adnan (100*) who gave the innings its real impetus with a cracking innings that spanned just 82 deliveries and featured 5 sixes and 6 fours. His unbroken partnership of 112 with Andy Gray (29*) for the seventh wicket eventually took the score on to a daunting 269 for 6. Mehmoon Tariq (3-41) had at least given Royces something to cheer in the meantime with three cheap middle-order wickets.

Tony Palladino (3-17) shot out Sahd Shafiq early in the home side's reply but they recovered somewhat through the efforts of Bilal Ejaz (22) and Haq Nawaz (30). The recovery was short-lived, however, with Palladino, Gray (3-12) and McIlroy (2-25) destroying the middle order and leaving Royces all out for a lowly 93.

Only Raja Sohail Haider (14), recently returned from Ticknall, of the remaining batsmen managed to post a double figure score.

3. H Adnan - 2. C McIlroy - 1. T Palladino

Spondon (17pts) 228-8 [50 overs] (B Ashdown 49, O Baum 48,
G Chamberlain 3-32)
drew with
Ticknall (13pts) 227-9 [50 overs] (P Borrington 61, Z Abbas 85, B Ashdown 3-31)

REPORT: Tight finish at Spondon

All results were possible in the closing stages of the encounter between Spondon and Ticknall but it was Spondon who came away with the major spoils in a match that ended in a draw with only a single separating the two sides.

Graham Chamberlain (3-32) gave Ticknall the early edge with Spondon reduced to 69 for 3, Ben Ashdown having scored 49, and a further wicket apiece for Ryan Cowley (2-57) and Zain Abbas (2-61) left the home side's innings in the balance on 126 for 5. But Oliver Baum (48) was defiantly crafting a fine innings but there was still plenty for the home side to do when Baum departed at 153 for 6. Crucially for Spondon Chris Windmill (27) and Suheil Tandon (23*) combined effectively in the run up to the interval and they managed to push the score along to a challenging 228 for 8.

Luke Harvey (24) featured in an opening stand of 46 with Paul Borrington who was then joined by Zain Abbas in a century second wicket partnership which put Ticknall well on the way to victory after tea. Joe Kellogg (2-35) trapped Borrington (61) with the score on 146 and Ben Ashdown (3-31) did similar to Michael Jacques one run later and Spondon were suddenly back in it. Abbas (85), however, turned the tide back in Ticknall's favour but wickets fell as the visitors edged ever closer to their target. Jack Lamb and Ryan Cowley were late run-out casualties as Ticknall pushed for the win and in the end the visitors closed on a knife-edge 227 for 9, desperately close to both the win and defeat.

A tie would have perhaps been a fairer end result. As it was, Spondon took home 17pts to Ticknall's 13.

3. B Ashdown - 2. P Borrington - 1. Z Abbas

Denby (27pts) 231-7 [50 overs] (S Poplar 63*, P Scott 44, C Durham 34,
P Burgoyne 32)
beat
Elvaston (3pts) 121 all out [35.1 overs] (C Ault 42, P Burgoyne 4-22)
by 110 runs

REPORT: Denby leave Elvaston in their wake

Denby continue to dominate in Abbey Glass Division One and extended their lead at the top to 23pts with a 110-run victory over an out of sorts Elvaston.

Simon Lillie (2-44) made for a shaky Denby opening (38-2) but Chris Durham (34) and Peter Burgoyne (32) hit back with a stand of 44. David Lewis (2-53) joined the fray and Denby slipped to 106 for 5 but good, and vital, knocks from Stuart Poplar (63*) and Peter Scott (44) saw their side to a match-winning 231 for 7 with a century stand for the sixth wicket.

Paul Allen (2-41) struck twice early on after the break and Elvaston never recovered. Charlie Ault (42) and Dan Randle (23) combined well but Jake Sherriff (2-33) limited the recovery and further wickets for Joe Greenhalgh (2-22) and the superb Peter Burgoyne (4-22) saw Elvaston dumped out for just 121 in the 36th over.

Marehay (22pts) 109-0 [16.1 overs] (W Lategan 51*, M Camm 52*)
beat
Eckington (0pts) 106 all out [38.5 overs] (R Pretorius 49, J Kyte 3-49,
M Camm 3-8, D Mills 3-13)
by 10 wickets

REPORT: Martin Camm inspires Marehay win

Martin Camm produced an excellent all-round display to help Marehay to an impressive ten wicket win over struggling Eckington.

Camm (3-8) joined James Kyte (3-49) and Dean Mills (3-13) amongst the wickets as Eckington nose-dived to 106 all out despite the best efforts of South African Ruhan Pretorius (49).

Camm then featured in an unbroken stand after the break with Waldo Lategan (51*) as Marehay romped to victory in just 16.1 overs. Lategan smashed a six and 8 fours in his innings whilst Camm (52*) cracked 2 sixes and six fours.

The victory moves Marehay up to sixth but Eckington drop once again to the bottom of the pile.

Sawley & LE Park (22pts) 160-2 [24.3 overs] (G Birley 38*, A Rhodes 60*)
beat
Clay Cross (3pts) 159 all out [48.2 overs] (B Hartley 49, S Roberts 4-34)
by 8 wickets

REPORT: Roberts on song as Sawley win again

Sawley & Long Eaton Park maintained their Division One title challenge with victory over strugglers Clay Cross who nevertheless made a promising start to the match.

Bil Hartley (49) and Jordan Lemon (25) combined to the tune of 75 for the first wicket but things went downhill from there and Clay Cross were eventually dismissed for a disappointing 159. Sean Roberts (4-34) started the rot and wickets for Barry White (2-38) and Matt Rhodes (2-41) completed the Clay Cross misery with only Dave Greaves (21*) of the remaining batsmen offering much in the way of resistance.

Greaves claimed the early wicket of Dave Eckerlsey after tea but there was little else to celebrate for the visitors. Gary Birley (38) and Roberts (35) added 49 for the second wicket and then Birley and a belligerent Andy Rhodes (60* off 29 balls) completed the rout in the 25th over with an unbroken third wicket stand of 89. Rhodes's innings featured no fewer than 2 sixes and 11 fours

Stainsby Hall (7pts) 192 all out [49.3 overs] (A Lynch 39, A Worth 31,
D Smyth 31, L Nelson 6-66, D Tee 3-41)
lost to
Rolleston (22pts) 193-8 [49.5 overs] (M James 45, M Ford 33, A Britton 30,
D Smyth 4-43)
by 2 wickets

REPORT: Important win for Rolleston

Rolleston's stay at the foot of the table was a short one thanks to a hard-fought win at Stainsby Hall.

Luke Nelson grabbed a superb 6 for 66 to help restrict the home side to 192. He received good support from Dave Tee (3-41) but Stainsby should really have done better after several batsmen failed to go on after promising starts. Ashley Lynch (39), Tom Wood (27), Alan Worth (31), Dan Hardwick (26) and David Smyth (31) all performed well but if just one had gone on to a bigger score then victory might well have gone the other way.

As it was Rolleston made a solid start through Mark James (45), Mat Ford (33) and Alex Britton (30), contributions that gave the visitors just enough breathing space to wrap up a two wicket win. Smyth (4-43) posed the greatest threat but Rolleston managed to inch home with one ball to spare.

Staveley Welfare (27pts) 150 all out [42.4 overs] (J May 40, T Bullimore 69,
C Fletcher 4-2)
beat
Matlock (6pts) 148 all out [48.4 overs] (B De Wett 48, P Camm 36,
R Liacono 3-47, T Bullimore 4-19)
by 2 runs

REPORT: Matlock slip to fourth

Matlock were on the wrong end of a two run defeat at Staveley Welfare and they slipped from third to fourth in the table as a result.

Burton de Wett (4-30) and Chris Fletcher (4-2) did all the hard work before tea, reducing Staveley from a healthy 96 for 1 to a disastrous 150 all out, but Matlock themselves crashed from a winning position of 136 for 6 to defeat on 148 all out. John May (40) and Tom Bullimore (69) were going well before the break and had added 92 for the second wicket but May's demise to Fletcher signalled the beginnings of an alarming collapse - the last five wickets going down for the addition of only three runs.

Ross Liacono (3-47) snapped up Kevin Leatherday soon after tea but de Wett (48) gave Matlock the edge and they reached a healthy 44 for 1. Chris Pemberton (2-42) helped reduce the visitors to 84 for 5 with the important wicket of de Wett but Matlock really should have won from a position of 136 for 6. However, Tom Bullimore (4-19) had the final say, helping Staveley to a much-needed 27pt haul.

Swarkestone (17pts) 275-7 [50 overs] (L Lacey 41*, J Guthrie 75, T Hamilton 80, A Chand 4-51)
drew with
Clifton (11pts) 249-7 [50 overs] (D Flower 31, M Wilson 42,
C Ogilvie 45 Retired Hurt, F Khan 70*, M Scott 4-43)

REPORT: Swarkestone thwarted again

Jamie Guthrie (75) and Academy star Tom Hamilton (80) put Swarkestone in a strong position against Clifton but once again Swarkestone were unable to force the win.

Their second wicket partnership of 160 set the scene for a big score and late runs from Luke Lacey (41*) and Harry White (20) took Swarkestone to a final challenging total of 275 for 7.

Aichin Chand (4-51) returned fairly respectable figures from his eight over stint but he was an early casualty as Clifton replied and they slipped to 70 for 3, Matt Wilson scoring 42 of these, from where they were always playing catch-up. But they very nearly did catch-up thanks to the likes of Faisal Khan (70*), Campbell Ogilvie (45*) and Dan Flower (31).

Thankfully for Swarkestone, Mike Scott (4-43) returned to snuff out Clifton's victory charge which certainly wasn't helped by Ogilvie having to retire hurt when going well.

In the end Clifton closed on 249 for 7.
