Holmebrook Valley Park, owned and maintained by Chesterfield Borough Council, received its Green Flag for the third time this summer.

A Judge from the campaign paid an unannounced visit to the park in the last few weeks and their feedback was positive:

  • The site was welcoming with good, clear signage
  • A well maintained litter free car park
  • The park was litter free with capacity in litter bins
  • Staff were in uniform and well presented
  • The lake area was maintained with a full compliment of life rings
  • The play area is in good condition and free of litter and graffiti

The mystery shopper also spoke to a number of park users and all said that the Park was well kept and well used. They were particularly happy with the café, where they said the food is good and the staff friendly.

The judges did point out a few areas for improvement, such as having more benches and a few signs that need cleaning or replacing.

Councillor Chris Ludlow, Chesterfield Borough Council's Executive Member for Environment said: We are very proud of our parks and open spaces in Chesterfield - and Holmebrook Valley Park is no exception.Councillor Chris Ludlow, Chesterfield Borough Council's Executive Member for Environment (left), said: "We are very proud of our parks and open spaces in Chesterfield - and Holmebrook Valley Park is no exception.

"We are pleased with the judges' feedback on the park, which received its third Green Flag this year. The park is well used and well loved by residents and is a credit to our staff and the Friends group who care for it.

"We look to build on this success by addressing some of the points for improvement which were raised."

Holmebrook Valley Park
