The youngsters had the chance to become Lewis Hamilton for the day thanks to their local neighbourhood policing team who took them Go karting as a reward for taking part in sporting activities held during the school holidays.
They were split into two groups for the session and the fastest three in each group a place place on the podium and each received medals. Police Community Support Officer Janis Naylor, of the Dunston, Moor and St Helen's Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "The go-karting was a great success and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
