Market Fun Days In North East Derbyshire

Monday 23rd May 2011

Street entertainment, kids' activities, free raffles and a range of stalls will be on offer at a series of market events being held in North East Derbyshire this month.

People are being encouraged to love their local markets in Clay Cross, Eckington and Killamarsh in the latest family fun days organised as part of North East Derbyshire District Council's 'Marketing the Markets' campaign.

The first events will be held on the dates below:

  • Killamarsh - Thursday 26th May, 9am to 1pm on Sheffield Road

  • Eckington - Friday 27th May, 9am to 1pm on High Street / Market Street

  • Clay Cross - Saturday 28th May, 9am to 3pm on Market Street

A spokesman for the Council said: "Our markets are valuable assets to our communities and, through events like this, and we want to encourage people to discover and get the most out of them.

"There is a packed programme of entertainment, stalls and activities at each of the three sites and we hope to see as many people there as possible!"

The Marketing the Marketing project is funded by the Bolsover and North East Derbyshire Leader Approach, with support from Clay Cross Parish Council, Eckington Parish Council, Killamarsh Community Trust Association and Dronfield Town Council which manage the markets in their towns.
