Regular Exercise Sessions With the Spireites

Wednesday 27th October 2010

Chesterfield FC Community Trust has today announced it's involvement in a new scheme aimed at getting people to take regular exercise with local residents being invited to join a local walking group.

The 'Walking for Health' initiative is a national programme guided by Natural England - and the Spireites are working with Chesterfield Borough Council to provide the B2net Stadium as a base for weekly, healthy walks every Thursday.

The first walk will take place on Thursday 4th November from 10.30am and will initially be around 30 minutes in length on flat, easy terrain, and led by trained Walk leaders, sometimes along the Chesterfield Canal.

Walkers will go at a leisurely pace in the early sessions which will develop into a brisk walk as confidence and fitness develops over the weeks.

John Croot of the Chesterfield FC Community Trust said: "This new walking group is all geared up for people who at the moment do little or no exercise, but after a few weeks we reckon they will feel better both physically and mentally.

"Walking for Health is a great way for adults to get back into regular exercise, to meet new people and, like fresh air, it's all free."

For further details ring 01246 209765 option 1, or mobile 07896 315 058, email community@chesterfield-fc.co.uk - or just turn up with suitable clothing and shoes for walking.
