Keep Warm this Winter

In an attempt to reduce fuel poverty, residents across North Derbyshire are being encouraged to find out more about keeping warm this winter at a series of drop-in events.

The North Derbyshire Home Improvement Agency is holding sessions throughout North East Derbyshire and Chesterfield to mark the start of Energy Saving Week.

Energy advisors will be on hand to discuss a range of issues which will help reduce fuel bills, improve energy efficiency and make sure people are warm and well in their homes.

Mark Wreghitt, Home Improvement Agency Manager, said: "Making sure people have the information and help they need to stay warm and well in their homes is a priority for us, and we aim to support people through events like these.

"Topics will include managing your fuel bills, how to change energy suppliers to get better value for money, and advice about home insulation - including details of financial help which is available."

Events in will take place at:

  • 26 October from 2pm to 4pm at Eckington Library

  • 28 October from 9.30am to 11.30am at Revenues Hall, Chesterfield

  • 1 November from 10.30am to12.30pm at Killamarsh Library

  • 5 November from 1.30pm to 3.30pm at Staveley Library

  • 11 November from 1.30pm to 3.30pm at Revenues Hall, Chesterfield

  • 18 November from 9.30 to 11.30am at Staveley Library

  • 19 November from 10am to 12 noon at Clay Cross Library

Free TV 'powerdowns' - a device that reduces electricity use - will also be available on the day for people who fill in an energy questionnaire.
