Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service Release Statement On Fatal House Fire

Tuesday 22nd September 2015

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service has released a statement regarding the house fire in Riddings, which saw two people lose their lives.Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service has released a statement regarding the house fire in Riddings, which saw two people lose their lives.

The statement reads: "At 07:33 hours on Sunday 20th September 2015, Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service was called to attend a house fire on Valley View Road, Riddings, Derbyshire.

Crews attending the incident were unable to enter the house due to the structural integrity of the building, so worked defensively to tackle the blaze.

Later in the afternoon, once the building had been declared safe by structural engineers, fire investigators were able to enter the building.  Tragically two people have now been confirmed as having lost their lives in this tragic incident.

Our thoughts and sympathy are extended to the family and friends of the deceased at this distressing time.

An extensive fire investigation, in conjunction with Derbyshire police is now underway."
