Tuesday 13th August 2013

Staff at a Leicestershire-based health and safety organisation have been competing in a week of sporting activities to raise cash for a life-saving charity.

50 colleagues at the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), in Wigston, took part in lunch-time games, from skittles and bat and ball to spacehopper racing (above) and by 2pm on Friday, had raised just over £170 for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance.

Sophie Stevens, Regional Fundraising Manager for Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance, said: It is great to hear about all the different ways people find to fundraise for us.IOSH Head of Corporate Affairs, Helen Metcalfe said: "Each year, the Social Committee at IOSH arranges charitable events for our staff to enhance our fun, friendly working environment and raise money for good causes at the same time.

"With 10 teams taking part and the rest of the staff cheering on at the sidelines, it has been fun and engaging for all."

Sophie Stevens, Regional Fundraising Manager for Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance, said: "It is great to hear about all the different ways people find to fundraise for us.

"With no government funding, we must raise £1.7million every year to keep flying and saving lives, so the team at IOSH and their fundraising efforts are invaluable."
