Organised by John Trever from the School Sports Partnership and Fred Pell from the Club, the competition followed several weeks of coaching by a number of coaches from the Club at schools in the area and attracted entries from ten schools with over a hundred players taking part.

The efficient running of the tournament was made all the more possible with the assistance of fifteen pupils from Chesterfield College who have recently undertaken a Tag Rugby Coaching course as part of their studies in Sports Leadership at the College. Acting as referees and also giving advice to the players they helped to ensure that a very high standard of rugby was played by all of the teams present.

After topping their respective groups the teams from Holymoorside and Old Hall schools won through their semi finals to meet each other in a tense final. With the score going first one way and then the other the result remained in doubt until the end but it was the Holymoorside team that emerged as winners at the finish.
