A Chesterfield paramedic has contacted The Chesterfield Post to ask for his heartfelt thanks to be passed on to a group of, "Very kind residents" who helped him and a colleague after their ambulance, which was transporting a poorly patient to hospital, got stuck in last week's snow.



The Paramedic, employed by East Midlands Ambulance Service, wrote to us expressing his gratitude for this act of kindness - which took place on the near Brimington on Thursday 29th January 2015 - saying that, without the assistance , the crew would have faced real difficulties.

He told us, "We were responding to an emergency call in the Inkersall area of Chesterfield, which resulted in a patient requiring an assessment at CNDRH. During the transfer to the hospital, the ambulance got stuck on the outskirts of Brimington due to heavy snow and other traffic and was unable to travel any further.

"We put snow socks onto the front wheels of the ambulance to try to generate more traction, but were unable to move up the hill.

"At this point, a number of people who were either local residents or other motorists that were stuck, came to the assistance of the crew and helped to dig at the snow and push the ambulance up the hill, allowing the patient to receive the treatment required at the hospital.

"As part of that crew, I'd like to say thank you to everyone who helped that day, as we would not have been able to get to the hospital without their support."
