In Loving Memory

Friday 13th May 2011

Roger Taylor, Alfretown Town FC's Club Secretary who p[assed away this week at the age of 72It is with great sadness that Alfreton Town Football Club announce the passing away of long-serving club secretary and match-day secretary Roger Taylor.

Roger, 72, (pictured left) passed away early on Wednesday after a short illness.

One of life's genuine gentlemen, Roger was brought to the club in 1987 by then chairman Sean Egan, and he went on to serve his beloved Reds for almost a quarter-of-a-century.

Deepest sympathy and sincere condolences are extended from everyone at Alfreton Town Football Club to Roger's beloved wife Eileen and family.

Roger was present at the Solihull Moors away league game on April 9th, but unfortunately missed the title-winning day against Redditch United on Saturday, April 23rd as he had been hospitalised just three days ealier.

Rest in peace Roger, you will be sadly missed by everyone at the club and your many, many friends in football.

Thank You

Roger's wife Eileen and step-son Steve Hall have expressed their sincere thanks to Alfreton Town Chairman Wayne Bradley and Vice-Chairman Sean Egan who went to see Roger in hospital shortly after the Reds won the Blue Square Bet North title.

They took the championship trophy with them to show Roger what his sterling efforts had contributed towards. "It made Roger's day" said Steve.
